In addition to major maintenance and overhaul work, Prairie Air provides routine services, detailed inspections, pre-buy inspections, and parts support. Our facility maintains a large in-house inventory of Robinson helicopter parts and components, allowing us to support both scheduled maintenance and unexpected service needs quickly. Robinson Helicopter has released new Service Bulletins:
• R44 SB-119
• R66 SB-45
These bulletins focus on the hydraulic servo-to-swashplate push-pull tube connections and applies to many R44 & R66 helicopters. Recent accident investigations identified cases of improper clamp-up, looseness, fretting, and maintenance procedures not being followed correctly, highlighting the importance of careful inspection and proper hardware installation. The inspection requires:
🔍 Detailed inspection for looseness or metallic residue
🔧 Specific torque checks on servo hardware
🛠️ Replacement or repair actions if movement is found
🎨 Proper torque stripe application and thread protection
One important reminder from this SB:
⚠️ Torque stripe is NOT a substitute for proper torque checks and inspection procedures.
